Robert has finally succumbed to his Multiple Sclerosis – but not until he’d put up the bravest of fights. Much gratitude is owed to the staff at both the Ashbrook Care Home and The Craigavon Hospice.
I remember the picture above being taken. It shows Robert looking both happy and at ease. The photo was taken during Robert’s stay at Adrian and Patrina O’Kane’s residence in Maghera. Special thanks to you and your family Adrian for giving the Robert such genuine care and love during his moment of greatest need.
Robert was a unique character. He lived life according to his rules and was unflinching in his views – especially those concerning the environment. His style of verbal delivery ranged from strident to withering. In all my life I never witnessed a stutter.
Robert’s sense of humour was extraordinary. He could transform the most mundane subject into a boundlessly hilarious abstraction of wonderful nonsense. Thank you Bob for all those times I laughed till I cried.
But you’ve gone and left us, though your suffering is no more.
Who now is left to set the table a roar?
Love always,
Andy
