Thank you for taking me for a late afternoon ride through the hills outside Belfast when I last saw you, Uncle DoDa. Thank you for taking me to the Crumlin Road Prison Museum and the Ulster Gallery. Thank you for being so warm, down to earth, funny, and kind. Thank you for giving me tips on how to be a teacher. Thank you forever.

My dearest Donal- You taught me love, respect and humility . You taught me patience and kindness…and how to make a garden. You taught me about eating potatoes without their skins. You played with my children, made me welcome even when it was too much- and I couldn’t see past myself.
You loved my sister beyond measure- and your wonderful son.
I am so glad you are not hurting any more. Our world is more gray, now that you are gone, but richer nonetheless, for having known you.
With Love
Sally

Dear Donal,
I am so sad to learn that you are gone. I only have good memories of you : when I was in Belfast back to the 1990’s, at our wedding, when we came to visit Belfast with our daughter… You were always so kind and welcoming. I will always remember your kindness.
I am thinking of John and Deirdre.
All my love
Véronique
